The Importance and Benefits of Zakah in Islam.

Madinah Munawwara Zakah is one of the five pillars of Islam. It has been mentioned, along with daily Prayers (Salaah), seventy times in the Qur’an. Allah’s Word commanding “…and establlsh regular Salaah and give regular Zakah” are referred to in many parts of the Qur’an. From this we can conclude that after Salaah, Zakah is the most important act in Islam.

The following are some verses from the Holy Qur’an and some Ahadith showing the importance and benefits of Zakah.

[Baqarah 2:43] And keep the (obligatory) prayer established, and pay the charity, and bow your heads with those who bow (in prayer).

[Baqarah 2:261] The example of those who spend their wealth in Allah’s way is similar to that of a grain which has sprouted seven stalks and in each stalk are a hundred grains; and Allah may increase it still more than this, for whomever He wills; and Allah is Most Capable, All Knowing.

Excellence & Sayings of Hadrat Sayyiduna Imam Ali al Murtuda KaramAllahu Wajhul Kareem

Mawla Ali ShrineExcerpts from Hilyat Al Awliyah Wa Tabaqat Al Asfiya by Shaykh Abu Nuaym Ahmad al-Isfahani (Alayhir Rahmah).

Excellence of Hadrat Sayyiduna Imam Ali al-Murtuda (KaramAllahu Wajhul Kareem)

The fourth sire of the people, is the beloved of Allah Almighty and of His faithful creation, the gate of the city of knowledge, the commanding orator, the master of reason and intellect, the explainer of allegories, the pure blessing, the moral authority, the instinct of certitude, the fathomer of truth, the dean of piety, the beauty of knowledge, the truthful explainer whose heart is full of wisdom, whose tongue is most inquisitive, and whose ears are most conscious; the chieftain of the pious ones, the mirror of sages, the righteous judge, the most forbearing sire and the righteous caliph, ‘Ali bin Abi Talib, Allah bless his countenance.

Advice of Hadrat Sayyiduna Imam Ali al Murtuda KaramAllahu Wajhul Kareem to Kamil bin Ziyad Radi Allahu anhu

Mawla E Kaynat Hazrat Ali ‘Abdu-Rahman bin Jandab narrated that Kamil bin Ziyad told him: ” ‘Ali held my hand once, and he walked with me in the direction of the cemetery. When we reached the open desert, he soughed a deep breath before he said to me, ‘O Kamil son of Ziyad, hearts are like vessels, the best are exceptionally conscious and vast. Learn from what I am going to tell you. knowledge is better than wealth. Knowledge guards you but you are guarding wealth. Knowledge dispenses justice, while wealth seeks justice. Wealth decreases with expense while knowledge increase with expense. He said: A learned man is better than one who prays and fights in the way of Almighty Allah. When a learned man dies, such a calamity befalls on Islam which cannot be removed except by his successor.

‘Ali, (Allah bless his countenance), said in poem:

Glory is due to none other than to the learned.

Guided are they and proofs to the seekers of guidance.

Everybody is honoured proportionate to his knowledge, But the illiterate are disgraced, as enemies of the learned.

Acquire knowledge, you will be immortal. All men are dead, only the learned are alive.

Sayyiduna Imam Hasan bin Ali Radi Allahu Anhu

Sayyiduna Imam Hasan bin Ali (Radi Allahu Anhu), Excerpts from Tarikh al-Khulafa by Imam Jalal al-Din Suyuti (Alayhir Rahmah). Must Read & Share!!

Abu Muhammed Imam Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abu Talib (Radi Allahu anhu), the grandson of RasoolAllah (SallAllahu ta ala alayhi wa sallam) was born on the 15th of Ramadan, the third year after hijrah.

Imam Bukhari reports from Hadrat Anas (Radi Allahu anhu): ‘No one resembled the Prophet (SallAllahu ta ala alayhi wa sallam) more than Hasan ibn Ali (Radi Allahu anhu).’

Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim report from Hadrat Bara’a (Radi Allahu anhu): I have seen RasoolAllah (SallAllahu ta ala alayhi wa sallam) with Hasan upon his shoulder, saying: ‘O Allah I love him, so (Ye) love him too’.

Imam Bukhari reports from Hadrat Abu Bakr Siddique (Radi Allahu anhu): I have seen RasoolAllah (SallAllahu ta ala alayhi wa sallam) on the pulpit (minbar) with Hasan on his side. He looked at the assembly and Hasan alternately, and said: ‘ Verily, this son of mine is a great leader. Mayhap that Allah will unite two groups of Muslims on his account.’

A humble appeal of AlaHazrat radi Allah anhu to muslim brethren

Madina MunawwaraIn the introduction of the book Tamheed E Iman (The Preamble to Faith) AlaHazrat radi Allah ‘anhu humbly appeals to Muslim brethren:

My dear brothers! As-salāmu álaykum wa raĥmatu’llāhi wa barakātuh. May Allāh azza wajal keep you, and for your sakes, this poor sinner, steadfast upon true faith and grant us the true love of His beloved, the last messenger Sayyidunā Muĥammad ﷺ and infuse his reverence and respect in our hearts; and that we be in that state until our last breath. Āmīn, O Lord of the Universe!

Your Lord Almighty azza wajal says:

O Messenger! Verily, We have sent you as a witness, and a harbinger and a warner. So that, [O people!] you may bear faith in Allāh and His messenger; and that you revere him and respect him, and that you sanctify your Lord in the morning and evening. [Sūrah Al-Fatĥ, 48:8-9]

O Muslims! Notice that the reasons for which the religion was given, and the Qur’ān was revealed are three, as mentioned in the above verse:

First, that people bear faith in Allāh and His Messenger ﷺ
Second, that people revere and respect the Messenger ﷺ and

Third, that they worship Allāh azza wajal.

O Muslims! Notice the elegant order of these three important principles. Faith (1) is mentioned first and worship of the Lord Almighty is mentioned in the last; and in between these two, is the reverence and honor of His beloved Prophet ﷺ.

Love And Respect of the Sahaba radi Allahu anhum for The Holy Prophet Muhammed SallAllahu ta ala alayhi wa sallam

Masjid Al Nabawi15 Ahadith on love and respect of the sahaba (radi Allahu anhum) for The Holy Prophet Muhammed صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم

1. During the negotiations of the Treaty of Hudaybiah, Arwah, as the representative of the Quraish, repeatedly wanted to touch the beard of the Holy Prophet ﷺ as per the Arab tradition of diverting one’s attention. But, Sayyiduna Mughirah Bin Sha’bah radi Allahu anhu intercepted his hand with his sword. Arwah became very conscious and started observing the manners of the Sahaba. When he returned to the pagans, he said:

“I have seen the Courts of Caesar and Najashi but I never saw the respect, which the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ show to him. They take the saliva of Muhammad ﷺ into their hands and never let it drop down and rub the saliva on their faces. When Muhammad ﷺ gives them some order, they compete With each other to carry out that order. They fight with each other to take the water, Which flows after Muhammad’s ﷺ ablution. When they speak in front of him, they lower their voices and never look at his face directly.” — Sahih Bukhari Vol 3, Book 50,Hadith 891

2. When the Noble Messenger صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم once finished making wudhu, Hadrat Bilal رضی اللہ تعالٰی عنہ took the water that was used.  Read the rest of this entry »

AlaHadrat Alaihir raHmah and His Taqwa

AlaHazrat gumbad

AlaHadrat Imam Ahmad Rida radi allahu anhu’s entire life was adorned with meticulous following of the Shari’ah and Sunnah of the Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam and his taqwa had reached an elevated level. I shall present some incidents from his life that show that he not only had taqwa but had also attained the rank of wara’a [Abandoning a part of the permissible for fear of falling into the impermissible]. In accordance to the verse, No men can be its guardians except the pious, he was a perfect muttaqi [Pious and Godfearing] and a gnostic.

1. The last Ramadan in his life was in 1339 AH. The weather in Bareilly was very hot and he was weak and ill, as these were his final years. The Shari’ah exempts an old man [Al-Shaykh al-Fanī: an old man who cannot fast now, and cannot hope to expiate in the future either] from fasting and expiate by charity instead and for the ailing, they are allowed to expiate when they are healthy again [To fulfil an obligation at a later time]. Despite these dispensations, AlaHadrat’s taqwa demanded otherwise. This was not his fatwa but his taqwa. He said:

The hot weather in Bareilly will not allow me to fast but the weather in mountainous regions is cooler. Nainital is not far from here and I can fast in the mountains of Bhowali [83 miles north of Bareilly]. And I am able to go there; hence, it is obligatory for me to do so.

He spent the whole of Ramadan there and fasted the whole of Ramadan.

2. He passed away on the 25th Safar 1340 AH. He was ill for months and in the last months, he could not even walk. The Shari’ah permits that in such conditions, one can pray at home but AlaHadrat would pray in the congregation. Four men would carry him on a chair to the masjid and he continued to participate thus as long as he was physically able to do so. Read the rest of this entry »

Pearls of Wisdom by AlaHadrat Radi Allahu anhu on his 93rd URS Anniversary

The personality of AALA HAZRAT Imam Ahmad Raza Radi Allahu anhu needs no introduction. Today his glory is echoing in the entire world. Besides Ulama,. Madaris & religious groups, Scholars, universities & modern circles are also attentive to him. Till now many scholars from the Universities of India, Pakistan & U.S.A. etc have done PhD on him & still the research work on him is continuing in Indian Universities & abroad.

Imam Ahmad Raza Radi Allahu anhu was the reviver of 14th Islamic century. He was the person of world importance. In 400 years world history such an amazing Alim & Scholar and versatile genius is not found as Imam Ahmad Raza Radi Allahu anhu was. He is of course ‘Aalahazrat’ i.e. the great threshold. He was greater than all Ulama & saints of his period as he was the reviver of his century & so he was called “AALAHAZRAT” He is the man of the century.

No doubt ! Imam Ahmad Raza Radi Allahu anhu has written more than 1400 books on the above mentined rational and irrational branches of knowledge, Some of his Pearls of Wisdom are as follows:-

Pearls of Wisdom

• The first and foremost factor of Imān is respect for the RasūlAllāh şallAllāhu álayhi wa âlihi wa sahbihī wa sallam.

• Imān is to accept every word of Sayyidunā RasūlAllāh şallAllāhu álayhi wa âlihi wa sahbihī wa sallam as absolute and nothing else but the truth and to testify wholeheartedly to the reality and truth of Sayyidunā RasūlAllāh şallAllāhu álayhi wa âlihi wa sahbihī wa sallam.

• May that faithless person’s mouth burn who ever says that the Prophet’s clothes are dirty! If Allah Almighty gives him the tawfīq to have the right etiquettes why does he not say ‘the dust has taken refuge in the Prophet’s şallAllāhu álayhi wa âlihi wa sahbihī wa sallam clothes/cloak’?

• The practice of Qiyām is good and recommendable because it is honour and respect to the Beloved Nabī şallAllāhu álayhi wa âlihi wa sahbihī wa sallam. And indeed, this is a practice of the great ‘Úlamā and we follow them. Read the rest of this entry »
