LABBAYK ALLAHUMMA LABBAYK

ALLAH (Jalla Shanahu) commands us to go for Hajj if we have the means, and when we are ready to go for Hajj, we say Labbayk (meaning: Here I am, ready to obey Your Command, O Allah). Allah (Jalla Shanahu) also commands us in the Holy Qur’an to invoke blessings and salutations on the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ta ala alayhi wa sallam) and what a pleasant surprise it is to find a salaat in Part 1 of Dalaail u’l Khayraat with the relevant verse (33:56) and the response of Labbayk as follows:

Innallaaha wa malaaikatahu yusalluuna ‘alan-nabi O Yaa ayyuhallaziina aamanu sallu ‘alaihi wa sallimu tasliima O

Verily, Allah and his angles bless the Prophet! O you, who believe, ask (Allah) to bless him and grant him abundant peace!

Labbaika Allahumma rabbi wasaadayka salawaatullahil-barrirrahiimi wal-malaaikatil-mukarrabiina wannabiyyena was-siddiqiina wash-shuhadaa‘i was-saalihiina wama sabbaha laka min shay-in-yaa rabbal ‘alamiina ‘alaa sayyidina Muhammad-in Abdillaahi khaatamin-nabiyyiina wasayyidina mursaliina Wa ima mil-muttaqiina warasuuli rabbil-‘alamiina shahidil-bashiirid-daa’ii ilaika bi-iznikas-sirajil-muniri wa ‘alaihis-salam. O

The Excellence of Du’a [The Essence of Worship]

Du‘a is the most powerful weapon of a believer. It can change fate, while no action of ours ever do. It is the essence of ‘Ibadah or worship. With it we can never fail; without it we can never succeed. With all the suffering and disasters Muslims are facing in various parts of the world, the question of Du‘a can be directed to all of us today. It is not that we have forgotten Du‘a completely; we refer to it regularly. But, our ideas and practice regarding Du‘a have become distorted. Often it is reduced to the level of a ritual. It is belittled through actions and sometimes even with words. Almighty Allah says:

“And your Lord said: ‘Invoke Me, I will respond to your (invocation). Verily, those who scorn My worship they will surely enter Hell in humiliation.” [Surah al-Ghafir, Verse 60]

The Almighty Allah states:

فَلَوْلا إِذْ جَاءَهُمْ بَأْسُنَا تَضَرَّعُواْ وَلَكِن قَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ

When the suffering reached them from Us, why then did they not learn humility? On the contrary their hearts became hardened (with arrogance), and Satan made their (sinful) acts seem alluring to them. [Surah al-An’am, Verse 43]

..:: THE EXCELLENCE OF DU’A ::..

There are numerous Ahadith relating to the excellence of Du’a.

HADITH NO. 1

Sayyiduna Rasoolullah SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam states that Almighty Allah says:

أنا عندَ ظنِّ عبدي بي

I am with the supposition of My servant. [Recorded in Bukhari (Hadith 7239), Muslim, Tirmidi, Nisa’i  and Ibn Maja on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah]

This means that as a servant imagines or has an opinion concerning Allah, the Merciful Lord accordingly reacts with him. Knowledge and Qudrat is with everything but there is a special proximity of mercy with those who make Du’a to Him. What bigger mercy can a servant ask for than being blessed with the Divine Proximity of the Sublime Lord? Thousands of acceptances and millions of desires and intentions may be sacrificed on such Divine Proximity! Read the rest of this entry »

40 Rabbana Dua from Holy Quran Shareef

Praise be to Allah Almighty, we thank Him, seek His Help and His Forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah Almighty from the evils of ourselves and that of our bad deeds. He whom Allah Almighty guides, is truly guided, and he whom Allah Almighty leaves to stray, none can guide him. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah Almighty, who has no partner and I bear witness that Muhammad Salla Allahu ta’ala’alayhi wa sallam is His Messenger.

This Note is a compilation of forty such verses, which are supplications imploring Allah Almighty for favours.

01 [Baqarah 2:127]  “Our Lord! Accept it from us; indeed You only are the All Hearing, the All Knowing.”

02 [Baqarah 2:128] “Our Lord! And make us submissive towards you and from our offspring a nation obedient to You – and show us the ways of our worship, and incline towards us with Your mercy; indeed You only are the Most Acceptor of Repentance, the Most Merciful.” Read the rest of this entry »

4. Making Dua

Many of us do not spend as much time as we should do in Dua. Even if we do we rush our dua and our hearts and minds are not present whilst supplicating to Allah exalted is HE.

Many of us rush our Dua’s and our hearts are often not present whilst we are supplicating to Allah. Therefore we lose out on much of the benefits and blessings of Dua. We must give more attention to our Dua’s and try to concentrate more and be more sincere in our Dua’s imagining Allah watching us supplicate to him. We should humble ourselves making ourselves low and not worthy in front of Allah. We should try to cry if we can and have FULL hope that Allah will accept our Dua’s if not in this world then in the hereafter.

Allah Almighty says in the Qur’an: “When my servants ask you concerning me, (tell them) I am indeed close (to them). I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calls on me.”

The place of Dua is so honourable to Allah that the Prophet (Sallallahu AlaIhi Wasallim) said: Read the rest of this entry »
