Sufism and Shari`ah, from Shaykh Ahmad Sirhindi radi allahu anhu

The Shari`ah is of fundamental importance to the Sufi path. This point is very strongly made by the great Naqshbandi Sufi, Shaykh Ahmad Sirhindi (also known as Imam ar-Rabbani), in his letters. Here is a small excerpt from one of his letters, where he clarifies this topic:

The Shari`ah has three parts: knowledge, action, and sincerity of motive (ikhlas); unless you fulfil the demands of all these parts, you do not obey the Shari`ah. And when you obey the Shari`ah you obtain the pleasure of God, which is the most supreme good in this world and the Hereafter. The Qur’an says: “The pleasure of God is the highest good.” Hence, the Shari`ah comprehends all the good of this world and the next, and nothing is left out for which one has to go beyond the Shari`ah.

The tariqah [“way”] and the haqiqah [“reality”] for which the Sufis are known, are subservient to the Shari`ah, as they help to realize its third part, namely, sincerity. Hence they are sought in order to fulfil the Shari`ah, not to achieve something beyond the Shari`ah. The raptures and ecstasies which the Sufis experience, and the ideas and truths which come to them in the course of their journey, are not the goal of Sufism. They are rather myths and fancies on which the children of Sufism are fed. One has to pass over them all and reach the stage of satisfaction (rida) which is the final goal of suluk [“travelling”, i.e. the Sufi path] and jadhbah [“overwhelming love”]. The purpose of traversing the stages of of tariqah and haqiqah is nothing other than the realisation of ikhlas which involves the attainment of rida. Only one out of a thousand Sufis is graced with the three illuminations (tajalliyat sih ganah) and gnostic visions, given ikhlas and elevated to the stage of rida.

al-Imam Ahmed Rida: The lies of the Deobandis

When these folk are helpless to do anything else, and cannot see a place to flee; and because Allāh táālā has not given them guidance to repent; and they do not refrain from uttering those blasphemies said against Allāh táālā and His Messenger sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam; nor withdraw insults that were published, nor proclaim this withdrawal, they resort to slander, which is the:

FIFTH SUBTERFUGE

This kind of behavior is described in the verse:

they seek to prevent from the path of Allah and wish to subvert it. (Sūrah Al-Aárāf, 7:45)

To thwart poor common folk from the path of Allāh and to instigate them, and seeking to pull wool over their eyes in broad daylight, they tell them: “What is the reliability of these scholars of Ahlu’s Sunnah? And what is the credibility of their fatāwā? These people do takfīr for even petty things and their machine always keeps churning out fatāwā of kufr. After all, they have declared Ismāýīl Dihlawī as kāfir; Maulvi Is’ĥāq[1] as kāfir; Maulvi Ábd al-Ĥayy[2] as kāfir…”

And those who have a greater degree of shame[3] add that MáādhAllāh! we have declared Shaykh Shāh Ábdu’l Ázīz, Shāh Walīyullah, Hājī Imdādullāh, Mawlānā Shāh Fađlu’r Raĥmān as kāfir[4]. And those who are beyond all bounds of shame, accuse us of saying – and I seek Allāh’s refuge from such thing, MáādhAllāh – that Shaykh Mujaddid e Alf-e-Sāni[5] was kāfir.

Wherever they see that someone has a special reverence for a certain personality, there they use his name and say that Sunnis have declared him a kāfir. This kind of defamation has reached such a state, that some esteemed and honorable[6] people went to Mawlānā Shāh Muĥammad Husayn Ilāhabādī and told him that we have said – and I seek Allāh’s refuge: MáādhAllāh, MáādhAllāh, MáādhAllāh – that Sayyidunā Shaykh al-Akbar Muhiyuddin Ibn al-Árabi [may Allāh sanctify his secret] is a kāfir. May Allāh táālā grant the noble Mawlānā lofty stations in paradise, that he acted upon this verse: Read the rest of this entry »

The Divine Vision » Me’raj-un-Nabi SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam

Shab E Mi'raj Mubarak
All Praise is due to Allah Azzawajal, Salutations upon His most Perfect, unique, and cream of creations, the Intercessor of the Sinners, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam, upon his family, upon his companions and the righteous servants till Doomsday.

O Allah, all praise be to You; You are undoubtedly carefree;
Once Moses insisted to see you; here You became anxious to see.

Some people have misunderstood the reality of the Me’raaj of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) due to their lack of knowledge and research. Their ignorance in this field caused more confusion in their hearts because they failed to understand the unique relation between ALLAH and His Beloved Habeeb (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him). How true is the comment of Sayyidul-Makashifeen Sheikh-e-Akbar Muhiyyudeen Ibne Arabi (Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anho) who said that Me’raaj is a secret in a secret. One has to have sound knowledge of the Qudrat of ALLAH and the Station and Status of His August Rasool (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) before commenting on any matter pertaining to them. Due to the lack of this knowledge some people have wrongfully said that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) did not see ALLAH with his naked eye and also did not proceed to the Divine Arsh on the night of Me’raaj. They say that both these things are impossible for any human being to achieve.

Indeed the illustrious Ulama and distinguished Imams of Islam have in their authentic books expressed in great details on this subject. All these are based on the Ahadith Shareef. The narrators and presenters are all trustworthy Scholars of Deen. This matter is not something that entertains ones personal opinion. It depends solely on the authenticity of solid proof. Hence, confirmation deplores contradiction. Ignorance does not necessarily reject its reality. If one rejects it, one is in fact a liar and a contradictor of the Deen.

Here is proof from Qur’an al Kareem, Ahadith an-Nabawi (Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam), Sayings of the Noble Sahab and from the writings of great and authentic scholars of Islam that the Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wa Sallam did see ALLAH with his naked eyes and he also did proceed to the Divine Arsh on the night of Me’raj.

Surah Al-Tauba – The Hypocrites who turned disbelievers after becoming Muslims”

The Holy Quran Shareef

The Holy Quran Shareef

[Taubah 9:23] O People who Believe! Do not consider your fathers and your brothers as your friends if they prefer disbelief over faith; and whoever among you befriends them – then it is he who is the unjust.

[Taubah 9:61] And among them (the hypocrites) are those who trouble* the Herald of the Hidden (the Prophet) and say, “He is only ears**”; say “He is a listener for your good, he believes in Allah and believes in what the Muslims say, and is a mercy for the Muslims among you”; and for those who trouble the Noble Messenger of Allah, is a painful punishment. (*To disrespect / trouble the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him – is blasphemy. **He believes whatever he is told.)

[Taubah 9:62] They swear by Allah in your presence in order to please you; whereas Allah – and His Noble Messenger – had more right that they should have pleased Him if they had faith.

[Taubah 9:63] Do they not know that for one who opposes Allah and His Noble Messenger, is the fire of hell, to remain in it forever? This is the greatest humiliation.

[Taubah 9:64] The hypocrites fear for a chapter being revealed regarding them, which may disclose what is hidden in their hearts; say, “Keep mocking; Allah will certainly disclose what you fear.”

[Taubah 9:65] And if you ask them, they will say, “We were just having fun and pastime”; say, “What! You mock at Allah and His verses and His Noble Messenger?”

[Taubah 9:66] “Do not feign excuses, you have turned disbelievers after becoming Muslims”; if We forgive some of you *, We shall punish others because they were guilty. (* One who kept quiet and later repented.)

Section 9

[Taubah 9:67] The hypocrite men and women are all the same; enjoining wrong and forbidding right, and being tight-fisted *; they have forgotten Allah, so Allah has forsaken them; indeed the hypocrites – it is they who are really disobedient. (* Not spending in Allah’s cause)

[Taubah 9:68] Allah has promised the hypocrite men and hypocrite women and the disbelievers, the fire of hell in which they will remain forever; that is sufficient for them; and Allah’s curse is upon them; and for them is a never ending punishment.

Section 10

[Taubah 9:73] O Herald of the Hidden! Fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be stern with them; and their destination hell; and what an evil place to return!

[Taubah 9:74] And they swear by Allah that they did not say it; whereas indeed they had certainly uttered the words of disbelief, and after having entered Islam turned disbelievers and had wished for what they did not get; and what annoyed them except that Allah, and His Noble Messenger, made them prosperous with His grace? So if they repent, it is better for them; and if they turn away, Allah will afflict them with a painful punishment – in this world and the Hereafter; and they will have neither a protector nor any supporter in the entire earth.

Merits Of Friendship And Brotherhood For The Sake Of ALLAH (Exalted is He)

The Holy Quran Shareef

The Holy Quran Shareef

ALLAH Beginning With The Name Of, the tenderly Merciful and Infinitely Loving

Know, 0 dear readers, that friendship is the result of good conduct

The Prophet Salla Allahu ta’ala’alayhi wa sallam said : 0 Abu Hurairah, you should take to good conduct. Abu Hurairah Radi Allahu anhu asked : 0 Messenger of ALLAH (Exalted is He), what is good conduct ? He Salla Allahu ta’ala’alayhi wa sallam said : Keep the tie of relationship with one who cuts it off, forgive one who oppresses you, give charity to one who deprives you.

Hazrat Idris Khaolani Radi Allahu anhu said to Hazrat Muaz Radi Allahu anhu : I love you for ALLAH (Exalted is He). He said It is good. I heard the Prophet Salla Allahu ta’ala’alayhi wa sallam say : Chairs will be placed round the Throne for one party of men. Their faces will be like full moon.
