It is said that Sayyiduna Omar bin Abdul Aziz (radi Allahu anhu) asked Sayyiduna Khidr (alaihis salaam) to give him some advise when they both found themselves in Medina Shareef, Sayyiduna Khidr (alaihis assalaam) replied, “O Omar! Save yourself from this state, wherein, outwardly you are the friend of Allah, yet, inwardly you are His enemy. Those whose inner self is not in concordance with their outer self are hypocrites and for them will be extreme punishment”.
Sayyiduna Abdul Wahid bin Yaazid (radi Allahu anhu) has expressed, “Sayyiduna Hasan Basri (radi Allahu anhu) has reached a lofty position in Tassawaf simply because whenever he advised any person to perform any action he firstly did so himself. Whenever he prohibited a person, he always firstly refrained himself. I have therefore, never seen a person whose inner self is precisely as his outer self”.
Sayyiduna Mu’awwiya bin Qurra (radi Allahu anhu) has stated, “Whenever I heard a person being praised, I had always found him less then his tribute, except for Sayyiduna Wakee’ah (radi Allahu anhu). I have always found him to be even more superior then his acclaim”.
Sayyiduna Abdullah Antaaki (radi Allahu anhu) states, “To refrain from internal sins is the most superior of acts”. When he was asked the reasons, he replied, “Simply because he who refrains from internal sins will have a better chance of refraining from external sins. Therefore, he whose internal self is better then his external self, this indeed is the Mercy of Allah. While he whose both selves are equal, this indeed is equality. He on the other hand he whose external self is better then his internal self, he indeed is an oppressor”.

Released on the occasion of the 93rd ʿUrs Sharif of the Imām
I | Ignorant Ṣūfīs
The noble friends of Allāh SubHanuhu wa Ta’ala state – “an ignorant ṣūfī is shayṭān’s joke.” Similarly, a ḥadīth of the noble Messenger of Allāh SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam informs us –
فقيه واحد اشد على الشيطان من الف عابدين
“A single jurist is severer upon shayṭān than a thousand worshippers.” [Tirmidhī and ibn Mājah]
Those who remain ignorant yet strive hard in their worship are merely made to dance by shayṭān upon his fingers. He places bridles in their mouths and tangs in their noses, and thus drags them wherever he wishes, whilst they convince themselves that they are accumulating good deeds.
Sayyidunā Junayd al Baghdādī Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu states –
“my spiritual guide, Sayyidunā Sirrī Saqtī Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu supplicated for me thus – ‘may Allāh SubHanuhu wa Ta’ala grant you the knowledge of ḥadīth and then make you a ṣūfī, and may He not make you a ṣūfī before granting you the knowledge of ḥadīth.” [Iḥyā ‘Ulūm ud-Dīn; Vol. 1; Page 13]
Sayyidunā Imām al Ghazālī Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu states – whilst explaining this statement –
“here, Sayyidunā Sirrī Saqtī Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu meant that the one who steps into the field of taṣawwuf [spirituality] armed with the knowledge of ḥadīth is victorious, whereas the one who ventures forth without knowledge is merely (– Allāh forbid! –) placing himself into destruction.”
Sayyidunā Abu-l Qāsim Junayd al Baghdādī Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu states –
“the one who has neither memorised the Qurān, nor written ḥadīth (meaning the one who lacks the knowledge of the jurisprudence) shouldn’t be followed by seekers of the path (of taṣawwuf,) nor should he be taken as a murshid [spiritual guide,] as all our knowledge of ṭarīqah is in obedience to the Book and sunnah.”
Sayyidunā Sirrī Saqtī Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu states –
“taṣawwuf is the name of the coming together of three qualities: firstly, the light of his (meaning the spiritual traveller’s) gnosis should not extinguish his light of asceticism. Secondly, he should not utter anything esoterically which exoterically contradicts the Qurān or noble ḥadīth. Finally, none of his miracles should be a means of him revealing that which Allāh SubHanuhu wa Ta’ala has forbidden to be revealed.” [Risālat ul Qushayriyah; Page 13]
Sayyidunā Shaykh Shihāb ud-Dīn as-Suharwardī Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhu states –
“that ‘ḥaqīqah’ [spiritual reality] which contradicts the sharī’ah [sacred law] is not in reality ḥaqīqah, but rather plain heresy.” [Awārif ul Ma’ārif; Vol. 1; Page 43] Read the rest of this entry »
Taken from ‘Ahl as-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah: an Introduction’Imam Ahmed Raza Barelwi radi allahu anhu in his fatawa – like other scholars of Ahlu’s Sunnah – has enjoined Muslims to be steadfast in their belief and better their social standing. These are available as small booklets and following are the subjects of his fatawa:
– Shari’ah is the ultimate law and following it is obligatory for all Muslims;
– to refrain from Bid’ah is of utmost importance
– a Sufi without knowledge or a Shaykh without actions is a joke of the devil;
– it is impermissible to imitate the Kuffar, to mingle with the misguided [and heretics] and to participate in the festivals of the Hindus.
– it is polytheism [shirk] to prostrate to any other than Allah táālā with the intention of worship. And if such a prostration is out of reverence [sajdah at-taĥiyyah], it is Haram.
– it is prohibited to ridicule other muslims and consider oneself higher than others.
– the iconography of the Shi`ah [ta’aziyah] and respecting such icons is forbidden
– Qawwali [sama’a] with musical instruments is forbidden
– it is not permissible for women to travel to visit graves [or maqams of awliya]
– it is not permissible to make pictures of living things.
– abbreviating the blessing ‘sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam’ to an acronym ‘sa’d lam ayn meem’, [in english it is abbreviated as PBUH] is impermissible
– to visit fake graves [that have no basis or record but simply the product of folklore] is impermissible
– feeding the poor and needy with the intention to donate the reward to the dead is permissible; but to hold obsequies and banquets where even the rich are invited is impermissible

1. Water pours down in such abundance that the filth is completely washed away.
2. The sun shines down so intensely that all trace of filth is burned away.
Similarly, there are only two ways to attain purification of the heart. One way is to engage in so much dhikr that mercy rains down upon one’s heart to such an extent that it eliminates the filth and cures the diseases of the heart. The other is to remain in the company of a righteous Shaykh and serve him, and like the sun the heart of theShaykh shines its rays upon his heart. The resulting blessing (faidh) removes all signs of the filth and a person’s heart is rendered pure.
Thus, we should be frequent and regular in our dhikr so that AllahAlimighty grants us annihilation of the heart (fana-e-qalbi), a blessing attained after the heart is purified in which a person is forever occupied in the remembrance of his Lord. However, this does not mean that he always sits in prayer and forsakes all other responsibilities. Rather the opposite is true and he takes care of all his worldly and family responsibilities but with a constant awareness of and a deep connection with AllahAlmighty.
ADVICE FOR THE MUREEDS of Silsila Qaadria Barakaatia Radawiya Nooria
The question was posed to ḤuĎūr Tāj ash-Sharīá Muftī Muḥammad Akhtar RiĎā al-Qādrī al-Bareylwī ḥāfidhullāh,Could you please share with us any wazīfa (litany) or any áml which can be performed for the protection of our Îmân and a means of achieving spiritual peace?
ḤuĎūr Tāj ash-Sharīá ḥāfidhullāh replied, – The recitation of Durūd (and Salawāt) is the most superior of wazāíf, recite Durūd abundantly
One should recite the Durood Shareef as much as possible. The recital of the Durood Shareef gains immense Barakah for the reciter. This should also be remembered by the students, that if they do not have the time to recite the Wazifas, then they should continue reciting the Durood Shareef in abundance.
TASAWWUR-E-SHAIKH (PICTURING THE MURSHID)
Always try and picture your Sheikh, whenever you are alone. Do so with total love and sincerity. Imagine that you are seated in front of your Sheikh and that the both of you are present in the court of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Imagine that the rays of Noor (Light) is descending upon the heart of your Murshid and from his heart it is being transferred to your heart. If you continue in this manner, you will be freed of all your worldly concerns and you will become more spiritually elevated.
May Almighty Allah assist you in this world and the Hereafter, through the Wasila of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and all the Mashaa’ikh of the Silsila Qaadria Barakaatia Radawiya Nooria. Ameen.
Hudur Tajush Shari’ah’s
Journey to al-Sham (Syria)

The august and esteemed personality of the Islamic world, the heir of the knowledge of Imam Ahmad Rida Khan, Tajush Shari’ah, Shaykh al-Islam Shaykh Mufti Muhammad Akhtar Rida Khan al-Qadri al-Azhari arrived in Syria on Friday the 22nd of August 2008.
Syria being the centre of the supplications from the Beloved Messenger, has been, is still, and shall still remain a place where the anwaar and barakaat continuously emanate from.
Syria has also received the supplications of the beloved Messenger of Allah:
“Blessings to al-Shâm, blessings to al-Shâm, blessings to al-Shâm!” (yâ tûbâ li al-Shâm). They asked why and he replied: “Because the wings of the angels of the Merciful are lowered over it.”
